Yıldız Hamidiye Mosque was commissioned by Sultan Abdülhamid II and completed in the late 19th century as part of the Yıldız Palace area, reflecting the political and ceremonial importance of Beşiktaş in the final Ottoman period. Its design blends Ottoman mosque planning with eclectic Neo-Gothic and Neo-Islamic details, making it distinct from earlier classical imperial mosques. The elegant façade, refined stonework, and compact yet monumental composition reveal the taste of an era shaped by modernization and imperial representation. It remains both an active place of worship and a notable architectural landmark near the historic Yıldız complex.

Getting there: The nearest stop is Beşiktaş bus stops and ferry area, about 850 m away, around 12–15 minutes on foot uphill. Maçka–Taşkışla cable car access is farther, while buses passing through Barbaros Boulevard and Beşiktaş Square offer the most practical approach. From central Beşiktaş, a short taxi ride can be easier because of the steep ascent.

Note: As this is a functioning mosque, visitors should dress modestly; women may need a headscarf, and shoes must be removed before entering the prayer hall. Avoid visiting during daily prayer times, especially Friday noon prayer, when access for sightseeing may be limited. The courtyard and exterior are pleasant for photography, but keep voices low and be respectful of worshippers.
