Shemsi Ahmet Pasha Mosque, built in 1580 by the great Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan for Grand Vizier Şemsi Ahmed Pasha, is one of Üsküdar’s most refined waterfront monuments. Designed in a restrained classical Ottoman style, the complex is admired for its elegant proportions, single minaret, stone-and-brick masonry, and intimate seaside setting on the Bosphorus. Its small scale gives it a contemplative character, and the mosque is also known for the tomb of its patron within the külliye.

Getting there: Üsküdar Marmaray Station is about 350 m away, around 5 minutes on foot; Üsküdar ferry piers and bus stops are roughly 400 m away, about a 6-minute walk.

Note: Modest dress is recommended; women may need a headscarf, and visitors should remove shoes before entering the prayer hall. Avoid visiting during prayer times, especially Friday noon prayer, if you want to look around quietly. The waterfront can be breezy in cooler months, so bring an extra layer if you plan to spend time outside.
