About this place

Dolmabahçe Palace, completed in 1856, served as the main administrative center of the late Ottoman Empire and reflects the empire’s turn toward European court culture. Its design blends Ottoman planning with Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical elements, creating a richly ornamented waterfront residence on the Bosphorus. The palace is especially known for its grand ceremonial halls, crystal chandeliers, monumental staircase, and lavish state rooms. It also holds strong national significance as the place where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk spent his final days.

Getting there: The nearest stop is Kabataş Tram T1, F1 funicular, and ferry terminal, about 600 m away, around 8–10 minutes on foot along the waterfront. Several Beşiktaş-bound buses also stop nearby on Dolmabahçe Caddesi within a short walk.
