About this place

Ihlamur Kasrı is a refined 19th-century Ottoman imperial pavilion complex built during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid I and designed in the elegant taste of the late empire. Set within a former royal resting ground shaded by linden trees, it reflects a blend of Ottoman court culture with European-influenced Baroque and Neoclassical decoration. The two main structures, Merasim Köşkü and Maiyet Köşkü, were used for ceremonies, receptions, and private retreats. Today it offers a quieter palace experience than the Bosphorus residences, with ornate interiors and a historic garden atmosphere.

Getting there: The nearest stop is Maçka Cable Car / Taşkışla area, about 850 m away, around 10–12 minutes on foot; several buses also stop near Nişantaşı and Ihlamur Yolu within roughly 300–500 m.

Note: Arrive earlier in the day for a calmer visit and better interior viewing, as the site is compact and can feel busy on weekends. Check current opening days and possible last-entry times before going, since palace-museum schedules may vary. Comfortable shoes are useful because the visit includes garden paths and slight uphill walking from nearby main streets.
