Büyük Çamlıca Camii, opened in 2019 on Istanbul’s Çamlıca Hill, is one of Türkiye’s largest mosques and a major contemporary religious landmark. Its design draws on classical Ottoman architecture, combining a grand central dome, six minarets, spacious courtyards, and monumental interior proportions inspired by Sinan-era forms. Beyond its scale, the complex symbolizes the city’s modern continuation of imperial mosque traditions while incorporating cultural and social facilities. The elevated setting also gives the site a commanding presence over the Bosphorus and the Asian side skyline.

Getting there: The closest bus stop is Büyük Çamlıca Camii, about 150 m away, roughly a 2-minute walk. From Kısıklı Metro Station on the M5 line, the mosque is around 1.8 km away and usually takes about 20–25 minutes on foot, so a short bus or taxi ride is often more practical.

Note: Modest dress is recommended for all visitors; women should cover their hair inside the prayer hall, and scarves are usually available at the entrance. Try to avoid main prayer times, especially Friday noon, if you want a quieter visit and better photo opportunities. As the hilltop location can be breezy and more exposed than central districts, bring an extra layer in cool or windy weather.
