The Egyptian Bazaar, also known as the Spice Bazaar, is one of Istanbul’s most historic covered markets and a key part of the New Mosque complex completed in the 17th century. Built in classic Ottoman commercial architecture, it features vaulted passages, masonry arches, and a dense, atmospheric interior shaped by centuries of trade. Originally funded through waqf revenues, it became famous for spices, herbs, sweets, and specialty goods arriving through Mediterranean and eastern trade routes.

Getting there: The nearest stop is Eminönü Tram Stop on the T1 line, about 250 m away, around 3–4 minutes on foot. It is also close to Eminönü ferry piers, roughly 300 m away, about 4–5 minutes walking.

Note: Visit early in the day for easier browsing, as the bazaar becomes very crowded from late morning through afternoon, especially on weekends. Keep cash or a card ready for small purchases, compare prices between shops, and expect active sales approaches in the busiest lanes.
