About this place

Bağdat Caddesi is one of Istanbul’s most famous urban boulevards, stretching along the Asian side and reflecting the city’s modern, cosmopolitan character rather than a single historic monument. Its name recalls the old road leading toward Baghdad, while today its identity is shaped by broad sidewalks, rows of trees, elegant apartment blocks, flagship stores, cafés, and lively neighborhood life. The avenue is especially known for its upscale atmosphere in districts such as Suadiye, Caddebostan, and Erenköy, where shopping and street culture blend with everyday local routines.

Getting there: Suadiye Marmaray Station is one of the most convenient access points, about 250 m from central shopping sections of the avenue and around 3–4 minutes on foot. Depending on which part you want to explore, Caddebostan or Şaşkınbakkal bus stops are also practical, usually within 100–400 m and 2–6 minutes’ walk.

Note: Wear comfortable shoes, as the avenue is long and best enjoyed by walking in sections. Weekends and evenings are the busiest times for shopping, dining, and traffic, while weekday mornings are calmer. In warm weather, bring water and sun protection, especially if you plan to continue toward the seaside parks nearby.
